What is the Graston Technique (IASTM)?

Graston Technique, also known as IASTM (Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation), uses specially shaped stainless steel tools to find and break down scar tissue and restrictions in muscle and fascia. It's more precise than hands alone, and it's part of the MOT and Blueprint treatments here.

Why aren't cupping marks bruises?

Cupping marks are caused by the suction drawing blood to the surface of the skin, which increases local circulation and speeds up recovery. Bruising is caused by impact trauma damaging tissue underneath the skin. Cupping marks are painless, expected, and usually fade within a few days.

What's the difference between sports massage and deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage is a technique focused on applying firm, sustained pressure to release tension in deeper muscle layers. Sports massage is an approach built around assessment and outcome — it may include deep tissue work alongside stretching, trigger point therapy and mobility checks, depending on what your body actually needs that day.

How often should I get a sports massage?

It depends on your training load and how your body is holding up, but every 4 to 6 weeks is a common baseline for active clients, and more often during heavy training blocks or when carrying a niggle. Bounce Back gives you 10% off automatically when you rebook within 6 weeks, so staying consistent costs less.

Does sports massage actually help with injury recovery?

Yes, when it's targeted correctly. Sports massage increases blood flow to affected tissue, helps break down adhesions that slow healing, and can reduce compensatory tension building up elsewhere in the body. It works best alongside a proper assessment, not as a generic rub-down.

How much does sports therapy cost in Leicester?

Prices start from £40 for a 45-minute Baseline sports massage, up to £95 for The Blueprint — a 135-minute flagship session covering every technique. Full pricing for all four treatments is on the treatments page.

Do I need a referral to book?

No referral is needed. Body Blueprint is a private clinic, so you can book directly online without seeing a GP first or waiting on an NHS referral.

What should I expect from my first session?

Every first session starts with an assessment to understand what's actually causing the problem, not just where it hurts. From there the treatment is tailored to you. Wear or bring comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated, and mention any injuries or conditions when you book.
